Question:
I (a non-Muslim man) am just about to leave for Tehran from Vancouver to join my wife, we were married in Canada (non-religious ceremony), with plans to do the Muslim marriage when we are in Iran together. Do you know how difficult it will be for us if we attempt to travel together both in Iran and between Iran and neighboring countries prior to our Muslim ceremony?
Answer:
It is strictly forbidden for a Muslim woman to marry a non Muslim man, so you have to convert to Islam then legally marry in Iran or any of the Iranian embassies all over the world. You cannot travel with her in Iran before your marriage. At the moment Canadian national must also travel in Iran within an escorted operated by an authorized Iranian travel agency.
