Should have my number in about 2 weeks time. I've heard that India can be NOT so friendly in issueing a lengthy visa, ie a 2 week transit which cannot be extended,, and its actually quite cheap to fly to iran whilst i'm currently in india. And the guys at uppersia, so far VERY VERY helpful and hope i can choose where to pick up after receiving my number.

Transit visa is usually issued for about 7 days not more. But you should discuss the case with the embassies. It is better to apply for a prearranged visa which is valid for 30 days. For that fill in the visa form on Iran visa application, it takes about 3-7 working days to get your reference number and two working days to collect your visa at the embassy by direct referral or one working week by posting the docs to the embassy. You can pay the visa fee in cash in Iran.
