I have been looking at prices in Iran on WikiTravel and it just sounds too cheap to be true!! Surely it cant be that cheap?!! Can anyone comment on this?

Compared to western European prices (slightly higher than US prices) Iran is about 3 to 4 times cheaper for the typical tourist expenses like food, hotels, museums, transport etc.
Be a bit on your guard with taxi-drivers: as in every big city on earth not all of them are charging you a fair price. In a shared taxi you can consult the other passengers, but in a private taxi ("dar bast") be sure to negotiate or ask around before taking one.
