Question:
I remember reading about recent crackdowns on women wearing boots over their trousers in winter...is it actually enforced? Will it be offensive/will I get in trouble if I do it?
Answer:
The female tourist in Iran has to cover their hair appropriately. They should also wear loose fitting garments which cover arms and legs up to at least the knee area over pants and a scarf in the summer, and a full-length woolen coat and scarf in the winter (calf-length is acceptable if worn over pants). Sandals, flip flops without socks or boots over trousers are acceptable and make no problem.
