Question:
1. What is better to travel in Iran - Bus or Train? What is the average fare for either? I think I would mostly be using nightly buses between cities. I know that patrol is cheap in Iran but for planning purposes I have to make a rough estimate of cost. 2. I'm quite concerned about the Quetta - Zahidan travel. Any input in terms of timings and fares would be very helpful. 3. What is an average meal cost in iran? I plan to eat light since I would be on the road a lot of time but again I wouldn't wanna miss local delicacies.
Answer:
1. Of course train is better but is not available for all the destinations so then you can use bus instead. The bus rates are between 5-15 $ depending on the distance and trains are between 2-35 $.
2. Mirjaveh is a locality in eastern Iran on the border with Pakistan. It is the main road crossing point between Iran and Pakistan. The Pakistani border post is at Taftan. Mirjaveh is also the point where the railway line from Pakistan crosses the border on the way from Quetta to Zahedan. The border immigration opens in the Pakistan side around 9am. There is a gate only on the Iranian side.
3. You can buy fast foods at 1-6 $ and dine in the middle class restaurants at about 4-8 $.
