My friend and I are travelling around Asia for 9 months and now reached China. How long does the application form at evisa.mfa.gov.ir take to be answered? I could fill it in, but my friend couldn't - an error message keeps showing up everytime he tries to send it, saying to use "only characters from a to z" (!!!). Does anyone knows about that or could in fact be able to fill it in and get an answer from the Iranian MFA? If yes, how long does it take and what are the next steps (paying fees, going to embassies....)?

It is not recommended to apply thorugh this website as you will never get a response. It is better to fill in the visa form on Iran visa application , it takes about 3-7 working days to get your reference number and two working days to collect your visa at the embassy by direct referral or one working week by posting the docs to the embassy. You can pay the visa fee in cash in Iran.
